Tribal Young Brown, also known as Tribal Brown or Brown, is an American hip hop artist and record producer. He is the founder and owner of Roovet Records, an independent label based in Jacksonville, Florida.[1].[2] He is best known for his single “Consider This”, which was released in April 2022 and became a viral hit on social media platforms. Tribal Young Brown was born Tony James Nelson II on April 13, 1987, in East Meadow, New York.[3] He started rapping at the age of 35, influenced by artists such as Big L, Biggie Smalls, and Tupac Shakur. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 2013.In 2022, he founded Roovet Records, a label that aims to promote independent and underground artists from Florida and beyond. He also began buying his own beats and recording his own songs in his home studio.

In 2022, he released his debut single “Consider This”, a diss track that addressed issues of trust and betrayal in his personal life. The song gained popularity on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Spotify, where it amassed millions of views and streams. The song also attracted controversy for its explicit lyrics and personal attacks on both non-rappers and rappers. Tribal Young Brown worked on his first studio album, which was expected to be released in late 2023. He has also collaborated with other artists such as Dopeboy Cot, DJ J.O, and Melz Cali. He describes his music style as “raw, real, and rebellious”, and says that he wants to inspire people to be themselves and follow their dreams.

Early Life

Tony James Nelson II was born in East Meadow, New York, at Nassau University Medical Center to Tony Nelson and Sherrianne Nelson. Even though its safe to say he's from Amityville, New York as it is known as his hometown.[4] He is a real Long Island child. Living in almost every town in Suffolk County[5] Nelson grow up poor and its no secret that him and he mom lived in many shelters, including but not limited to Help Suffolk located in Bellport, New York and New Life located in Amityville, New York. Nelson grow up with both his parents, two little cousins and his older sister. He attended 3 different school districts which included Amityville, Bellport and Mastic (William Floyd). At the age of 16 in 10th grade he was asked not to return to Amityville High School.


So that resulted in a drop-out, At the age of 16 he parents broke up and he was kicked out by his mother and abandon by the rest of his family including but not limited to his aunts. At the age of 17 years old his uncle Ivory invited him to live with him in Baltimore, Maryland. His uncle was a general contractor and taught him how to sheetrock, paint and a few other things. And only asked that he got a job and got his GED, which he did get a job working for McCormick in Maryland. Later on his uncle asked that he quit his job and comeback to work for him, he refused and decide to pack his things and leave instead he went back to New York. At age 18 he studied at Farmingdale SUNY College and obtained his GED and continued to College there.


In Less than a year at Farmingdale SUNY College he dropped out. Later on in the same year he was hit on the corner or Great Neck and Albany Ave in Amityville, New York while riding his bike by a truck. This resulted in a $45,000.00 law suite against Allstate Insurance, In which after paying his lawyers resulted in a $29,000.00 Payment. At this time this was the most money nelson have ever seen or had at one time. At the age of 19 he brought his first car and taught his-self how to drive and also obtained his New York drivers license.

Career

Brown's rap career started you can say on his birthday of 2022, when he released his first song "Consider This"[6][7].[8]"Where he started off dissing his friends brother saying how he slept with his girl, many times on his yacht. He then went on to diss his other friends brother, saying how him and his girl made him rich and plus he slept with her too. As well as her sister and her cousin which now is his baby-mother, he went on to diss his cousin Shagusto saying he's better than him and his career just started[9]. And in the last verse he diss his ex-girlfriend saying she like dirty men, and they can never compare to him. "Consider This" turned out to be one of his most loved songs so far gaining over 50,000+ streams on Spotify in just 2 months. Next he release "Trust & Betrayal" a storytelling song and the song was named after his album itself be followed by " You Could Be The One" and "Jacksonville Story."

Tribal Young Brown[10] is an American hip hop artist who started his rap career in April of 2022[11]. He is known for his songs “Consider This”, “Trust and Betrayal”, and “In Da Club”, which feature his distinctive style of rapping. Tribal Young Brown’s rap style[12][13] is characterized by his aggressive, confident, and witty delivery, as well as his use of metaphors, wordplay, and references to his personal life and experiences. He often raps over beats produced by Pro Viib Inc., a music production company that he collaborates with frequently. Tribal Young Brown’s rap style has been influenced by various hip hop artists, such as Biggie Smalls, 50 Cent, Big L, and Nas. He is also the owner of Roovet Records[14], an independent record label that he founded in 2023.

Tribal Young Brown’s stage name has two parts: Tribal and Young Brown. The first part, Tribal, refers to his ancestry and heritage, as he is a descendant of the NEBU Wolf Tribe Nation, a non-federally recognized tribe of historically both African Americans and Non-African Americans based at the eastern end of Long Island, New York. The second part, Young Brown, is a nickname that he got from his friends and family and the streets, as sold crack cocaine in the early mid 2000's (2007-20011) ethnic identity and his personal history.

Tribal Young Brown was in jail 13+ times for various offenses, including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell or distribute , strong arm robbery, and unlicensed driving or driving on a revoke license.

And once in Jacksonville, FL for Failure to Return Leased or Rented Property all charges were later on dismissed.

Health problems

In September of 2021 he suffered a massive heart attack and fell seriously ill. He was hospitalized at Orange Park Medical Center, Florida, and was treated and admitted there for about a week.[15]
